Trust

Trust has to be earned.

VetAnvil asks people to trust it with information that can affect important decisions about life after military service. This page explains the principles that guide how we approach that responsibility and the boundaries we place around our role.

Our approach

  • Sharing should be the veteran’s choice

VetAnvil’s approach is to give veterans clear choices about when information is shared with another organization. Our privacy policy describes how information is handled and shared.

  • Security is a requirement

Security is treated as part of how VetAnvil is designed and built, not as a later add-on. We will describe certifications publicly only after they have been independently issued or formally authorized.

  • Third-party services

VetAnvil relies on outside providers for services such as cloud infrastructure and data. Using a provider does not mean that provider endorses VetAnvil, and we describe each relationship by what it is.

Clear boundaries

  • VetAnvil is an independent company, not a government agency.

  • Official decisions stay official

Employers make hiring decisions. The VA and other agencies determine eligibility. VetAnvil helps people prepare and stay organized; it does not approve claims, grant benefits, or guarantee jobs.

  • If a relationship involves payment, sponsorship, or referral compensation that affects what people see in VetAnvil, that relationship should be disclosed where relevant.

Automated suggestions

  • Automated suggestions are labeled

Some results, such as civilian roles suggested for a military occupation code, are generated automatically. The career translator labels suggestions that have not been verified against an official crosswalk.

Where we are headed

  • Clearer control over sharing

Our long-term direction includes giving veterans a clearer view of which organizations can access different parts of their information and why.

  • A lifelong, veteran-controlled record

A record that stays useful through transition and life after service, with veterans making clear choices about how it is shared.

We test the public site for accessibility issues and are working through known gaps. Our accessibility statement explains what we have checked and how to report a barrier.
